A feature that has been lacking from Reforged is custom campaigns. A user named <b>tulee </b>has informed me, that the recent Quenching Mod update 1.5 has re-introduced this missing feature, and I don't just mean individual maps, but the entire w3n-system that is necessary to run almost all custom campaigns. I have yet to try out the update myself, as I am waiting for official confirmation that the update is available to international users. After doing my tests, I will be able to say if updating my campaigns for Quenching Mod is viable. Aside from a bug-free experience, it is also important to me, that "converting" a campaign for Quenching Mod does not break it in such a way, that it could not be played anymore in case Blizzard decides to re-introduce custom campaigns themselves, and that future updates for Reforged don't break Quenching Mod. Naturally, it is also important that enough people adopt Quenching Mod as the main way to play custom campaigns, but here I think that it's up to the custom campaign makers to lead the charge. Ideally there is no real conversion process and any campaign can just be played as it is, no matter what version or mod is used. Status of Lord of the Clans 3.0 (General Features)<p>Update 3.0 has been in development since late Summer 2019, just after releasing Day of the Dragon 3.0 Beta. For the first few months I was just designing and testing new systems, most prominently abilities that could be changed on the fly, a fire pit used for cooking to improve hero stats, or a crafting system. I was also writing down ideas for many new quests and how I would change or merge entire maps to suit a new playstyle. You will notice that this is two chapters less than version 2.0, but be assured that this is in no way a decrease in content. While Day of the Dragon 3.0 has seen a decrease in favour of quality, I have put all possible effort to ensure LotC 3.0 is an even bigger experience than any of my previous campaigns. Many chapters now have three to four times as many quests as before, while the map size has also increased significantly, with most maps being redesigned from the ground up. But I'm not filling large maps with meaningless encounters. There is a vast increase in events, with many triggered attacks and transmissions all over the place. Each encounter should feel unique and meaningful. The high number of quests is also supporting the new ability systems. Almost every quest is going to unlock a new ability, passive or active. </p><p>The ability systems are split into multiple categories:</p><p>- Combat abilities: These around bound to the QWER hotkeys and consist of normal and ultimate abilities. Basic and upgraded variants are unlocked by completing main quests and can be upgraded with enough gold. There are four sets of combat abilities, one for each hotkey. They can be switched at any given time from a custom interface.</p><p>- Backpack abilities: The Backpack is a hero unit with its own set of abilities. The Backpack gains attribute points when completing certain optional quests. These points can be spent to improve:</p><p> - Fire Pit: Heals all nearby organic units. Used for cooking to increase hero stats temporarily. Used to buy permanent hero stats. Burns lumber as until put out. Permanent variations of this don't burn lumber and can be used for quick travel.</p><p> - Cooking: Slain animals (Boars, Rabbits, Raccoons) can be cooked at a Fire Pit for a temporary increase of hero stats.</p><p> - Crafting: Can craft many charged items like Bandages, Spears, various traps or buffs.</p><p> - Looting: Gain additional resources when killing enemies.</p><p> - Backpack Size: Gain additional inventory slots for the Backpack.</p><p>- Hero abilities: Work like classic hero abilities, but most of these are passive. Active abilities include Haste, which temporarily increases movement speed, and Tattered Cloth, which adds mana at the cost of life. The new maximum hero level is increased to 20.</p><p>- Upgrades: These can be unlocked by completing optional quests. Many have basic effects like increased life. Some are more specialized. E.g. the ability to cut down trees to gain more lumber. Upgrades can be researched from the custom interface.</p><p>- Companions: Companions can be unlocked by completing optional quests. Companions are basic units like Grunts, Spearthrowers, Catapults or even Snowsong. They can be summoned from the custom interface. On the offensive side, all abilities have much lower cooldown and mana cost, while being relatively hard hitting. Additionally players can use Tattered Cloth, which refills some mana at the cost of life. This allows players to use abilities frequently and kill many enemies quickly. On the defensive side, many enemies have telegraphed abilities, meaning you can actually dodge their abilities when reacting quickly. This fast-paced combat demands more attention from players, increasing risk and reward. Many new mini boss fights should keep players on their toes.<br /></p><p>This was a basic overview of the general features of the campaigns. In my next update, I want to go into more detail on the general changes for level design and quests. The campaign was still playable on Battle.net, but I had been unable to continue work on this project. I'm happy to say that after 2,5 months of hard work I have finally been able to restore and update it!<br /><br />The process of restoration involved painstakingly adding every trigger action, condition and event from scratch, using only Galaxy script code as blueprint. Fortunately this was only necessary for the first two chapters. For chapters 3-7 I could rely on older versions, making it only necessary to apply the recent updates I had made. The restoration also required me to re-implement german localization. Again I could use the Galaxy script code for copy & paste. What followed were many weeks of bugfixing, until the restoration process was good enough to allow additional changes.</p><p>The most important change is the usage of the new custom campaign feature introduced by Blizzard in <a href="https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/starcraft2/23482838/starcraft-ii-5-0-patch-notes" target="_blank">Starcraft 2 patch 5.0</a>. Shadow of the Xel'Naga is now started via a launcher map. From this launcher map you can select any of the chapters and the difficulty level. You can also get information on the current patch notes and credits. Additionally, the launcher map displays any codex or secret you might have obtained. Additionally, you get options to manage your hero/army settings when playing with a partner.</p><p>To play the campaign simply log into Starcraft 2, go to Custom, select Campaigns, search for Shadow of the Xel'Naga (or any shorter form, like shadow), create a lobby (invite a friend) and start playing. The changes are numerous and make my head spin, but I'll try to list the highlights.<br /><br /><ul style="text-align: left;"><li>Campaign support </li><ul><li>StarCraft II now supports transitioning a multiplayer lobby between two maps.</li><li>A new “Campaign” genre has been added to Battle.net.</li></ul><li>Easier Data Editor</li><ul><li>Data Collection is a new type of catalog that declares and groups a set of data elements. Why now? How does this affect Reforged? Are modders coming back to Starcraft 2? Will OutsiderXE make another campaign? Only thing I can say right now is, the update has made me more than curious. Up <a href="http://outsiderxe.blogspot.com/2020/07/the-current-state-and-future-of-my.html">until recently</a>, I thought that I would never go back to Starcraft 2, expecially since I lost my triggers for Shadow of the Xel'Naga, making it nearly impossible to edit them.</div><div><br /></div><div>Shortly after the release of the editor update, I looked into the possibility of remaking the triggers for the lost maps. The process requires me to manually transform every single line of the Galaxy script into an event, condition or action inside the trigger editor. This process is very tedious, but after a week I was able to recreate a playable version for Chapter 1. It still requires a lot of testing and its missing the german localization, but it's a good start. I estimate I need about two weeks for Chapter 2. Luckily, for Chapters 3-7 I still have the triggers from the old 1.0 versions, meaning I can simply copy those, and use the Galaxy script to implement the differences from 1.0 to 1.3. This should take around 1-3 days per map, not including the localization. The localization and additional testing should require 2-3 weeks. At that time, many of us, were rather optimistic about the impact of Reforged. In the very least, we thought we would get a graphical overhaul, and possibly cool additions to the editor. In the end, we got a a downgrade. I will not go into all the details; people have complained often enough. There is only one important thing that I must note: Custom campaigns were removed. Six months after release it still is not possible to play custom campaigns with Reforged. Furthermore, our ability to play an old version of Warcraft 3 has been crippled. We can use old CDs to install WC3, up to version 1.26, but many maps that were created with version 1.27 or above are no longer playable, including the latest versions of my campaigns. I maintain my campaigns on the PTR version 1.31. If I accidentally press "update" when the game launches, it will be game over. Blizzard promised to re-implement custom campaigns, but as we see, development is extremely slow. This is not acceptable. i have not bought and I will not buy Reforged without access to custom campaigns. Despite the extremely slow development of patches by Blizzard, I am still hopeful that custom campaigns will make a comeback at some point in the future. With that in mind, I have continued to work on my own projects, so I would like to give you a stats update on each one.</div><div><div><br /></div><div><b>The Last Guardian</b>: The most up-to-date of my campaigns. It has recently received a good amount of changes. The main game was great. This was was filled with optimization problems. The biggest issue was the balancing. Many encounters were filled with enemies that were way too powerful (rocket launchers everywhere). At one instance I died about 10 days, just within the first 10 seconds. Then there were these annoying chase mission with that annoying rollerblades girl whose name I fortunately forgot. I just want to forget that this DLC exists.</div>

When you get a PS4, sooner or later you will stumble upon the Uncharted series. They still hold up in terms storytelling and visually the third game still looks decent. The gunplay is a bit shaky, as there are not many options besides cover shooting and throwing grenades. What I didn't like was how the puzzles were implemented, forcing you to go through a picture book.</div>

There are many more upgrades and weapons; the levels, while not beautiful, at least they are randomly generated, making multiple playthroughs interesting. The objectives are generic and the storyline feels a bit confusing, but the humor is there.</div>

It's very strange. I played all Uncharted games this year, and I was missing the more versatile weapons and gadgets that the new Tomb Raiders games have. Too many collectibles and side missions that take you out of the story.</div>

I had started playing this the year it was released, but I felt I had to stop because I was playing too many Assassin's Creed games that year. Luckily I only played four of them in 2019... Syndicate has the best movement system, and I really hope they bring in the grappling hook back in future games. London still looks amazing and the "Gangs of New York" setting is cool. Stealth system also works better than in previous games. Unfortunately, like other Assassin's Creed games, Syndicate is lacking when it comes to varied mission design, and gameplay in general has gotten a bit stale over the years.</div>

I think they "should have done less with more". First of all the mechanics of the game work. I like scouting with the eagle, I like the combat, I like the stealth and getting into camps, I like the story. But the game is way too big. It started to feel repetitive after 20 hours, but it took me 90 hours to complete all main missions and all questions marks I could find. The city architecture looked great, but the world design felt too generic for me to feel like I was in Greece. Maybe because I am greek and pay more attention to this...</div>

It works as an RPG, it falls flat as an RTS. I really enjoyed the micro missions, the dialogues (even though they were often too long), the detailed visuals and the story. As an RTS you have a limited tech-tree, and the detailed visuals and big maps make it easy to lose focus.</div>

This game mirrored my experience I had with the new Tomb Raider. I felt it was a bit bland in comparison, lacking cool gadgets; but compared to the other Uncharted games the (physics) puzzles were built better into the game world, there was more space to explore. Also the overall story felt more touching and the characters more believeable, and the visuals are still so gorgeous.</div>

I think annual games like these are great when you don't buy them every year. I must say I stay out of the multiplayer activities, and I don't even play MyCareer. Most of the time I just play one season of 82 games and the playoffs with the Lakers. That usually takes me around 50 hours to complete. Gameplay and presentation are still great. There are so many things you can do even if you are not an expert in the game, and when you start to dive into it with the playbook and defensive setups it gets really exciting.</div>

I really like Hitman games, but when I play without the guides I always end up killing the targets in the most boring way. The guided system in Hitman 2 tells me where to go and what to look for, so I can get the most out of the game for multiple playthroughs. There are so many ways to play the game, unfortunately the amount of maps is very limited, and I refrain from buying more because I think the DLCs are too expensive.</div>

The best Assassin's Creed game since Black Flag, maybe since ever. I love the new combat. I love the open world that is varied and great to look at. I like the setting and the story. Sure, it oculd have been about 10 hours shorter by removing some repetitive tasks, but all in all a great experience.</div>

It reminds of Skyrim, but not because of the cold setting, it's more because of the "lack of highlights". Imagine if fun in video games was a line. When you experience something cool this line goes up, and then it goes down when you experience something ordinary. Having the line go down makes the exciting experiences more memorable. While playing God of War I often felt like this game could be more epic. But in retrospect I realized, just like Skyrim, the game always stays on top of this line. It's a wild ride from start to finish. Presentation is superb and pretty unique. Setting and characters are superb. Combat is great, althouh a bit behind the old GoW games. Semi-open world is just about big enough to get a sense of space, but not too big to get bored with repetitive tasks or empty space. Upgrade system and progression are good. Sidekick works well with story and gameplay.</div>

This is not the end of the update yet. The process to update Day of the Dragon will continue once after Warcraft 3: Reforged is released.<br />

For the time being this is the best version of Day of the Dragon. Here is a summary of the changes for the campaign.<br />

General:<br />
- New class Dark Summoner for Rhonin: Can Summon Wraiths, Voidwalkers and a Nether Dragon and debuff enemy units to regain life.<br />
- Replaced class Elemental Mage with Timewalker for Rhonin: Can slow down enemy, increase his own speed and create a future version of himself.<br />
- Removed old Chapter 5 Dalaran map. Former Sub-maps of Chapter 5 are now fully qualified Chapters spread across the campaign.<br />
- Moved existing interlude to between Chapters 2 and 3.<br />
- New interlude about Alexsttrasza and Nekros, set between Chapters 6 and 7.<br />
- Reduced amount of text in cinematics, improved cameras and terrain, and all transmissions are now placed in a queue.<br />
- Can now hire various types of mercenaries on each map.<br />
- Numerous changes to gameplay, UI, audio, models etc. (basically everything)<br />

lmost ten months now. Simply said: No, I'm not lazy, it's that big! Update 3.0 will include many major changes. A new hero class and completely new maps. Allow me to list the coolest features.<br />
<br />
General:<br />
- The Dark Summoner is a new hero class for Rhonin. He can summon multiple Voidwalkers he can drain for mana and life or explode to damage enemies.<br />
- Higher emphasis on mercenaries: Each map features multiple taverns where you can hire mercenaries to support your heroes with unique abilities.<br />
- More scripted events: E.g. Many enemy units will no longer just be standing around waiting for you to fight them. They will be patrolling areas or play transmissions.<br />
- Shorter/queued dialogue: The duration of cinematics and other transmissions has been reduced dramatically without losing their meaning. All dialogue is now played in queues, meaning any dialogue you trigger will wait for all other dialogue to finish before playing, therefore avoiding mixing of dialogues. Additonally user control is now disabled less often.<br />
- Added secrets to most maps. Some are just for fun, others give you good items.<br />
<br />
Chapter 1:<br />
- Removed some enemies from the first half of the map to reduce repetition.<br />
- Completely remade the second half of the map. Vereesa will now encounter bandits with plenty of scripted events and dialogue.<br />
- New final battle against Grunts and a Dragon.<br />
<br />
Chapter 2:<br />
- Remade entire map to have more variety in encounters and more scripted events.<br />
<br />
Chapter 3:<br />
- Remade Kryll escort with more scripted events<br />
- Remade entire map to include base building and ship battles<br />
<br />
Chapter 4:<br />
- Added creeps to fight and Rhonin can now use his abilities.<br />
- Merged the third and second island.<br />
- Removed many mundane tasks.<br />
- Slightly changed story so Rhonin meets Deathwing earlier.<br />
<br />
Chapter 5:<br />
- Dalaran: More enemies for the optional quest.<br />
- Northrend: More scripted events.<br />
- Caverns of Time: Remade entire map to include base building and escorting Rhonin (Thrall is no more!)<br />
- Emerald Dream: Replaced demons with satyrs, spiders, and corrupted night elves. Changes level design for more variety and more scripted events.<br />

Chapter 6:<br />
- Still work-in-progress<br />
- (Planned) Smaller map with reduced walking distances<br />
- (Planned) Can now train workers and build structures<br />

Chapter 7:<br />
- More scripted events<br />
- Cooler boss fights<br />

- Removed first part of the Blockade quest (second part is now longer and has more interesting enemy attack waves)<br />
- Removed Rhonin's, Vereesa's and Falstad's descend from the mountain (Vereesa and Falstad can now be rescued to use in the base building phase)<br />
- Nekros is now part of all enemy attack waves after Alexstrasza has been rescued<br />
- Alexstrasza can now be controlled as a summonable unit<br />
- Removed the first phase of the Aspect Battle<br />
- The Aspect Battle is now in real-time with completely new abilities and enemy attacks<br />

This is just a very basic outline of the changes. As you can see, some maps have been completely replaced by new ones, while others have been changed to a near-unrecognizable state. As the time of this writing the update includes over 700 improvements for balancing, UI, audio/video and bugfixing with more on their way.<br />

I would say I am about 80% finished now and the open beta could be released within 2-3 months. The final release should be out some time after Warcraft 3 Reforged is out. It's important to me that the transition to Reforged is smooth and people can immediately pick up the campaign and play it, which is why it's likely I am going to hold back on the final releases for all of my campaigns until then.<br />
<br />
Lord of the Clans will also be updated. I have some ideas for changes but I don't know yet what form or size they will have. In my defense (and that's probably what you want to hear), I spent a lot of time working on updating my WarCraft 3 campaigns. The final update to The Last Guardian is currently in open beta. Day of the Dragon has recently received a hotfix and its final update is only 1-2 months away from going into polishing phase. I also have some plans to update Lord of the Clans one last time.</span><br />

A Playstation 4 exclusive? Yes, fellow PC gamers, I betrayed you. Anyway, for many it's one of the best games ever made. I can totally understand why some people feel that way. Story is really good. The characters feel alive. Atmosphere is there. it still looks decent. Gameplay allows you to be creative to an extent. My problems was that it took me too much time to udnerstand the mechanics. I tried to approach this as a pure stealth game, meaning I try to sneak past enemies without confrontation, even without using any tools if possible. When caught by enemies I would run away. It wasn't until I saw a friend of mine play that I understood to take a more violent approach. About half of the game had passed when I started understanding the behaviour of Clickers and Runners and could deal with them accordingly. Only the combination of both types of infected still caused problems.<br />

3 - Horizon Zero Dawn - 8/10<br />

The overall world design looks stunning, charaters are good but the dobot dinosaurs are really, really awesome. Fighting them is also really cool as there are so many options to deal with them. Story is bland until about 2/3 into it. Then it is almost too much to take in, but it never feels convoluted like e.g. Assassin's Creed does. All the pieces fall nicely together towards the end. Worst part of the game is probably gathering and crafting. There was a mechanic that helps you find resources but I never used it.<br />

I really wanted to destroy the discs early on. I absolutely hated the game. It took me 2,5 hours to get past the first alley. I had headaches and I felt physically ill. I read a few guys and then it was better, but still, for the first 12 hours or so I felt like I was hitting my head against a wall. People on the internet say that it's all about skill and becoming better. To some extent I agreed with that, but all you really have to do is figure out your moveset and which attack serves you best in what situation. Beyond that it's all about levelling your character. Whenever I hit a roadblock I simply levelled my character 5-10 more levels, thus any encounter I previously had problems on would be a breeze. I think I beat around 1/3 of all bosses on my three attempts. I beat the infamous Orphan of Kos, on my first attempt. Much like The Last of Us, I wanted to rate this game lower for having me confused leaving me frustrated early on, but the game just absorbed me towards the end, leaving me wanting more. I haven't even written anything about the atmosphere yet. Fantastic. (*Finished in 2019 by a week)<br />

I bought a PlayStation 4 this year and all four games I have played took spots 1-4 on my list. Spider-Man was my first PS4 game and the reason why I bought it in the first place (although it was just a matter of time). Spider-man is first and foremost a feel-good game. It feels really, really good to just swing around the city. Combat is also really cool, probably even better than the Arkham games. Just quicker and with cool gadgets. Story is very much what Spider-Man would want. It's almost as much about Peter Parker as it is about Spider-Man. Very good. On the downside, all the collectibles and side activities lead to a lot of repetitive gameplay, but how bad can it be if I completed the game 100%?</div>

Here's an overview of the major changes for version 2.2.0:<br />

- Changed some puzzles, completely replaced the turn-based combat in Chapter 7 with real-time combat and puzzles<br />
- Reduced amount of text for many cinematics and dialogues<br />
- Transmissions are now played in queues (text from different dialogues will no longer overlap)<br />
- Changes for some spells (e.g. lower cooldown on Flame Strike, Realm of Time now only works on one unit)<br />

Known Issues:<br />
- Sometimes music doesn't play and item tooltips disappear. My theory is that it happens because of the latest update/when players alt-tab often. Only thing I can say is it's not my fault.<br />
- Queued cinematics and transmissions may lead to game breaking bugs. If you experience a situation where you expect a trigger to run but nothing happens, I need you to do two things: 1) Make a screenshot of your latest Transmission Log (F12) and send it to me. 2) Wait up to 5 minutes for the faulty trigger to be automatically removed from the queue, then you should be able to continue playing normally.<br />

We haven't gotten any specific details, but Blizzard Entertainment have stated
in interviews that they are making the game so user created maps are as
compatible as possible. Luckily my campaigns have never ben touched by a third
party editor and they use very few custom scripts. On the other hand they use
many imported models and textures. Now, if I was Blizzard I would add an option
to the editor that allows the game to fall back to a low-detail model/texture
if the high-detail model/texture can't be found, instead of just not loading
the map. I think it's very likely that Blizzard will actually implement
something like this, but we are still awaiting official confirmation.</div>

My current plan for all of my WarCraft 3 campaigns is to
update each them one final time. Further updates will only happen if players
report game-breaking bugs or if the campaigns have some sort of compatibility
issue with future versions of WarCraft 3, including Reforged. I want people to
always be able to play my campaigns. Once Reforged is released I will take a
look at my options: These may include<o:p></o:p></div>

1. Remakes/visual updates to my existing WarCraft 3 campaigns
to work with Reforged. Compatibility with the old WarCraft 3 can hopefully be

2. A completely new project with only Reforged in mind. This
would free me from past mistakes and I could completely start from scratch<o:p></o:p></div>

3. A project for a different engine/game. I have been

4. Stop mapping or take a very long break. It's a very time

Let me get into more detail about my plans for the final
updates for my WarCraft 3 campaigns.<o:p></o:p></div>

<b>The Last Guardian</b>: I have been working on Update 6 (Version
2.2.0) for a month now. Initially this was supposed to be just a quick fix for
the game-breaking bugs, but a few months ago <a href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLACFHAM2MlxNOwqRmz-aBjCTpY1aIG1WK">Youtuber Pr0nogo</a> played through
the campaign and made some excellent suggestions on how to improve it. Not all
of his suggestions are going to make it into the update, some because the
WarCraft 3 editor is limited, others because my time is limited. Nontheless
Update 6 will have some cool additions. Here is a quick summary:<o:p></o:p></div>

half a dozen times. I will also spent some time finding out which creator
created what resource to create a proper list. I might even delete/replace some
custom assets if I can find the original creator. Expect the update <b>to be

<b>Day of the Dragon</b>: I have been working on Update 6 (3.0.0)
for almost six month. It's the biggest update I have ever worked on. It's so
big that I actually needed to take a break from it, so I was working on an
update to The Last Guardian for the past month. I will return to Day of the
Dragon as soon as The Last Guardian is finished. Here's a summary of the

play experience! I am currently 30% done with Chapter 8, I might create a new submap for Chapter 5, and I still have tons of small things I must fix before I can start with the polishing phase. If I work really hard on this it could be out in <b>February 2019</b>.<o:p></o:p></div>

<b>Lord of the Clans</b>: I haven't started on the final update yet. The priority is
to eliminate bugs, but I also have ideas to implement new abilities/a class
system for Thrall, improved quests and events, decreased amount of text. The
update will hopefully be out before Reforged is released. My guess is <b>Spring
2019</b>.<br />

<b>Shadow of the Xel'Naga</b>: Yes, this is a StarCraft II project, but I thought I would mention it for the sake of completeness. I released Update 1.3 twenty one months ago. I wanted to work a bit more on it, but last year in autumn, I accidentally deleted my backup files. I can still restore the maps via Battle.net, but all the triggers are obfuscated. Theoretically I can still work with that or I could remake the triggers from scratch, but either solution is a real pain in the ass, so Shadow of the Xel'Naga <b>will probably not be updated again</b>. Naturally you can still play it by logging into StarCraft II and searching for 'SotX' in the Arcade. I currently have no plans to work on another StarCraft II project. The exception would be another contest hosted by Blizzard.</div>

Blizzard Entertainment is aggresively looking for new people to work on an unannounced Diablo title. You can see this if you go to their job openings and set the list of projects to Unnanounced Project (<a href="https://careers.blizzard.com/en-us/openings/all/unannounced-project/all/all/1">https://careers.blizzard.com/en-us/openings/all/unannounced-project/all/all/1</a>). Almost all the job openings have ", Diablo" added to the job title. Furthermore, if you click on one of those job postings, one of the first lines you are going to read is "We're working on a new, unannounced Diablo project."<br />

Now the only question is, is this an Add-On to Diablo 3 or Diablo 4. In my opinion it's the latter. They are looking for many people, including a Creative Director, so supposedly someone who will drive the franchise into a new direction. The best way to do this is with a brand new sequel and not something that relies on the core mechanics of Diablo 3. I would also rule out another mini-Add-On like Rise of the Necromancer that simply introduced a new class.
